Treasures I Found at a Library Book Sale
I love visiting library book sales to find unexpected treasures. This past weekend, I came across some great finds that I’m excited to share. From inspiring old patterns to fascinating quilt history books, and even a few fun novels with quilting themes, there was something for every quilter and book lovers.
Old Patterns with Fresh Inspiration
One of my favorite finds was a quilting pattern I’ve had on my wish list for a long time—a Judy Niemeyer design! I’ve always wanted to try one of her patterns, but I felt overwhelmed. Luckily, I found a smaller project pattern, and I’m thrilled to finally give her design a try.
I also found a pattern for a biblical-themed quilt by Rosemary Makhan. I previously made one of her beautiful patterns, Rose Sampler (check it out here), and I love her designs. I can’t wait to start this new quilt soon!
Quilting History to Learn From
I couldn’t be more excited to find the American quilt history reference books. I love studying how quilting has evolved over the years, and these books are full of fascinating examples (and many of them are colored!). What amazes me most is how resourceful and creative quilters of the past were. Their quilts weren’t just functional—they were true works of art. I can’t wait to dive deeper into these books for both inspiration and appreciation.
Quilting in Fiction—Stories for Fun
Of course, no book sale trip is complete without a little fun reading. I love historical fiction and always keep an eye out for my favorite authors. Jennifer Chiaverini is definitely one of them, so I was thrilled to find a couple of her classic books. I especially enjoy stories where sewing, quilting, and women’s lives make a meaningful impact on their communities. These novels are heartwarming and inspiring, and I can’t wait to start reading them this Saturday night
This weekend’s library book sale was full of wonderful surprises, and I am already planning on the next one. Do you love book hunting? I’d love to hear about the treasures you’ve discovered too, so feel free to share your favorite finds!
